The word of mouth network is alive and kicking in Sydney town,the channel one free sound system squat party festival went off in the old ABC studios in Artamon,a tumble down wreck of a building that imprinted its smashed up archetecture on the collective psyche of the night.The massive drum and bass system blew the socks of all that entered the red lit room as a green lazer cut through the swimming pool of bass.Live bands played throughout the night in the massive room upstairs.Two levels down and two levels up the zones continued the stairwells bearing the brunt of the thousand or so revellers.It was like the building was a rotting carcass being eaten out from the inside by party maggots feeding on free electricity.

The smashing up of the place that was already heavely vandalised is a bit of a worry,people sometimes dont think that if you throw stuff through windows you might  hurt someone below,who are these kids.Maybe they have just been let of of the juristiction of there parents,but for fucks sake stop it,these partys are put on for the love of community and the daring spirit of accessing these spaces not for someone who suddenly feels so bloody free that they stop thinking beyond their own haze of self gratification,ok rant over but something has to be done to stop this next time.

Even the cops are to be comended for not shutting the obviously illigal event down.Someone out there is a genius with police liason.The old ABC studios at Artamon probably wont get used again,apparently the owner was their in the morning(thank god i'd left)spitting anger through out the smouldering embers of the massive gathering that had mostly gone home by 8.00am

There seems to be a magic at work when these free events are organised and we've had incredible luck that we have been able to enjoy these events and thet the collective care factor has lead to no major injuries,keep it up Sydney party people,this is going to grow and grow,the screams of joy and mashing beats from all the sound systems has left an indelible heart warming mark on my consciousness.Long live the spirit of active underground.Stay tuned for the next instalment in the Channel series of events.
